About The Hotel

If we fast forward to modern times, in 2017, Erin and Ben Schroeder of Hartington saw a jewel in the rough after the hotel sat unused and ran down after many years. The Schroeder family painstakingly renovated Hotel Hartington with the dream of once again providing event space and lodging for the Hartington Community. The renovation focused on preserving as many original features as possible while updating the hotel to serve the area for the next 100 years.

Some of the original features include preserving the original wallpaper and wood in the lobby and many areas throughout the hotel. The large roll-up wood doors initially in the ballroom are used in the bar area for decoration, and the original windows on the main level were re-glazed to have an authentic ambiance. Erin, having an excellent eye for detail, decorated the hotel with period pieces to complement the renovation.

At the beginning of 2023, the hotel changed hands again and is under new ownership. The new ownership focuses on allowing as many people as possible to enjoy this beautiful property. It is one of a kind and takes us back to a simpler time, with each of us becoming a small piece of the History of the Hotel Hartington. The ballroom and speakeasy spaces function perfectly for weddings, class reunions, graduations, and holiday parties.
